Vote to block C.V. incorporation

Monterey Herald -- Aug. 29, 2009

To incorporate Carmel Valley or not? That's the big question. Let's think about this.

Whether developers will build in Carmel Valley, if it becomes a city, is not the question. They will definitely begin building. The question is whether incorporating Carmel Valley will make it better. I don't think it will.

I don't think the local video stores will like a new Blockbuster built out there.

I don't think the local ma-and-pa food shops will like having a Taco Bell built there.

I don't think the local residents will like having a huge space cleared in Carmel Valley to build 400 additional low-income houses.

I don't think the roads being widened to accommodate all of this extra congestion will add to the valley's beauty.

I don't think having local taxes raised to pay for this new layer of government over the valley will help enrich anyone's lives but for those advocating for a city.

So this October and November vote "No City" and at the same time vote for the anti-incorporation candidates for City Council, and help stop the monster!
