No money for fire district, let alone town

Monterey Herald- Oct. 13, 2009

Just last month, Carmel Valley voters passed a tax on themselves because there wasn't enough money to run the Carmel Valley Fire District. How are we supposed to create and operate a city when the revenues are not there to even run a small fire district? Remember, LAFCO approved the fire district consolidation, too, and look where that got us — $2 million in the hole in just a few years.

The proponents of incorporation have leap-frogged from one issue to another, hoping to find one that works to bamboozle the voters of Carmel Valley.

They are trying to make this all about developers, when in reality they are just playing politics as usual and pitting neighbor against neighbor in what looks like a divide-and-conquer strategy.

I say if they want to run for office, move to an established city somewhere else and leave Carmel Valley alone.

No on G.
