Carmel Valley EIR

Monterey Herald, Oct. 12, 2005

Dear Editor:

Are Carmel Valley residents as concerned as I am about the lack of a full environmental impact study on the "city" of Carmel Valley?

According to Gary Patton of LandWatch, speaking about the incorporation of Carmel Valley on his radio program Oct. 29, 2003 (www.kusp.org/landuse/report10_27_03), "There are certainly pros and cons in turning Carmel Valley into a city. Environmental and fiscal issues, in particular, need to be examined closely, and they will be, under the supervision of the Local Agency Formation Commission."

Time is running short. LAFCO will determine whether or not a full environmental impact report is needed at its meeting on or about Oct. 29.
