Letter to Kate McKenna about Full EIR

Oct. 12, 2005

To Kate McKenna and all LAFCO Commissioners

(Please see that all commissioners receive this email in their packet...thank you)

We strongly recommend that LAFCO insist on a full EIR on the Incorporation of Camel Valley. You need one to put in a bridge, for heavens sake, and staff has recommended that it's not needed for a city! It seems so very obvious that Kate McKenna and her staff are strongly in favor of Incorporation, just as they were strongly in favor of the consolidation of Mid-Valley and the Valley Volunteers...........

For Anne McGowen, not to excuse herself from that vote was a true "travesty of justice". Any person that would insist on voting, regardless of such a strong conflict of interest, by sitting on the Mid-Valley Fire District Board, is an extremely poor representative of LAFCO. Fifty-four percent of the people, in the Village Fire District, sent in their views to de-consolidate, but all of you did not listen.

Several of you said you would not vote until you received a legitimate financial statement. You did not receive it, but you still voted against the Carmel Valley Village and their Valley Volunteers, in doing so you have allowed mismanagement of funds to be swept under the rug and poor leadership to continue.. ...................Your judgement has seriously hurt our quality of service in the village, the response time in an emergency, and the loss of men with years of dedication and experience. Please don't disappoint us again! We ask you to insist on a full EIR.

Sincerely,

Gene and Joan Vandervort
